Entrepreneurship in Hebron Feature: Aseel Sultan Founder of 5arbushte

Aseel Sultan is just one of many young Palestinians turning to entrepreneurship to overcome a landscape dominated by economic downturn and financial uncertainty, which for years has affected thousands countrywide.
During Sultan’s academic journey at one of Hebron’s most renowned universities, the Polytechnic Institute, she was introduced to the intricate yet expansive world of technology. She says, “It all started while I was pursuing an education in computer and electronics technology, I began to notice how many different aspects of technology, and the digital world is built on intricate and technical patterns.” Despite Aseel’s newfound passion for all things tech, employment opportunities in tech were tough to come by, “Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a job in my field, so I turned my hobby of crafting all types of fun string art into my calling.”
Undeterred, Sultan decided to combine her hobby with her passion and founded 5arbushte, a small marketplace dedicated to her signature string art crafts. “This became the inspiration behind my signature string art collection. I create elaborate patterns and designs using string, ropes, and different textiles to create imaginative and somewhat whimsical decorative wall art, accessories, and even dream catchers.”
Today, 5arbushte boasts an array of colorful and imaginative decorative wall hangings and accessories perfect as gifts for any occasion, and most importantly, all items are designed and crafted exclusively by Sultan. The appeal of 5arbushte is wide as the specialty shop includes a variety of wall hangings and a range of accessories like necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and medallions, we craft specialty designs based on customer specifications.
“If you are looking to celebrate a special moment with a family, friend, or loved one, look no further than 5arbushte, where you can find an array of unique gift options that not only meet your needs but exceeds it,” says Sultan.
To get to the next level, Sultan joined MENACatalyst for their latest GIZ funded project, designed to support a new generation of self-starters from Hebron with the business and financial services, mentorship, outreach, and networks needed to build sustainable income-generating projects. Sultan is also set to launch a crowdfunding campaign to secure the resources she needs to purchase a CNC crafting machine to increase productivity and, ultimately, sales.
As a result of Sultan’s participation, she has been able to benefit from exclusive one-on-one mentorship sessions and learn from leading business enablers and industry partners from across Palestine. Moving forward, Sultan is driven by her dedication to contribute to her local economy and share her newfound knowledge and resources to help out emerging women self-starters in her local community.
